Quicksand

Quicksand is an independent, 3-part anthology shot on 35mm. A teenager makes first contact with a particular aspect of his imagination. A married man indulges in his fantastical impulsions. An elderly man faces the consequences of his actions right before he is set to receive a lifetime achievement award.

As the lead producer and assistant director on Quicksand, a three-part narrative anthology exploring themes of masculinity, violence, power, and identity through a surrealist psychological drama lens, I oversaw all stages of production including development, budgeting, fundraising, casting, scheduling, logistics, and post-production coordination.

Development & Pre-Production: Managed script development, location scouting, casting calls (including minor compliance), and crew assembly; coordinated Panavision grant camera rental and insurance.
Production: Led on-set production logistics as Assistant Director, supervising a team of approximately 20 cast and crew members across multiple locations, including complex practical effects and stunt work.
Financial Oversight: Raised approximately $30K through private donations, facilitated an additional $25K of in-kind contributions, and managed an operational budget exceeding $55K to date.
Post-Production & Beyond: Currently overseeing editing, scoring, and VFX processes for Part 1 while preparing fiscal sponsorship and grant applications for Parts 2 and 3, with a fundraising target of an additional $140K.
